We are well aware of how much you care about the confidentiality and privacy of your personal information and how it is shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will handle it carefully and sensibly.

Any information about you that you provide to us when using our app, such as the information you provide when registering for a user account or when entering into transactions through the app, which may include (without limitation) your name, contact information, gender, date of birth and occupation, is referred to collectively as “Personal Information”. Any reference to “we” or “us” is a reference to Moddakir.

Consent to the transfer of personal information

By this document, you consent to Moddakir’s collection, use, disclosure and retention of your personal information, as set out in this Privacy Policy, including, without limitation, the transfer of your personal information between Moddakir and its third-party partners set out in this Privacy Policy.

Any consent relating to the right to transfer information referred to in this paragraph shall be deemed to include your consent to the transfer of the applicable personal information to another jurisdiction, which may result in a level of privacy protection different from that in force in your country.

Notice of the information we collect and how we use it

Our primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide you with a safe, smooth, efficient and personalized experience. This allows us to offer services and features that are most likely to meet your needs, and to customize our services to make your experience better and easier.

Using the app, including the ability to practise learning the Quran through an audio and video learning session, requires registration through the app, in which case we collect and store information, including personally identifiable information, that is provided to us voluntarily when registering on the app.

We use personally identifiable information to deliver the app to you and to develop analytics and aggregated data that allow us to improve the app. Once you provide us with your personal information, you are no longer anonymous to us.

In addition to the specific uses described below, we may in general use any information we collect for the following purposes:

• For the purpose for which you provided the information to us, such as creating and maintaining a user account for you.
• To provide you with the app’s features and functions.
• To personalize the content you see based on your personal characteristics and preferences.
• To improve the app and other products and services.
• To troubleshoot and fix problems, provide you with required notices, enforce our User Agreement (for example, where necessary to protect our intellectual property rights or proprietary rights, or those of a third party), or alert you to changes in our policies or agreements that may affect your use of the app.

Information we collect about users of the app

Log files

Like many websites, we automatically collect certain information about our site traffic and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp and clickstream data. We use this information, which does not by itself identify individual users, to analyse trends, administer the app, track users’ movements around the app and gather demographic information about our user base. We may link this automatically collected information to your personally identifiable information, in which case it will be used and disclosed as personally identifiable information under this Privacy Policy.

Information we collect from registered users of the app

Registration

During registration, you must provide truthful contact information in accordance with our User Agreement. Registration requires you to provide us with the following:

1. A unique username and a unique password.
2. Your email address.
3. Your country of residence.
4. Your language preferences.
5. Your gender.

We use this information to create an account for you on the app, to contact you about services on the app in which you have expressed interest, and to personalize your experience according to your preferences. For example, information about your home country helps us provide you with a teacher in a comparable time zone.

Usage information

To give you the best experience, we will collect data about your use of the app, including, without limitation: (1) how long your audio sessions last, (2) which of the app’s features you use. We may use all of the foregoing information as set out in this Privacy Policy.

Device information

When you use the app, we will collect non-personal information about the device you use to access the app, including, without limitation: (1) the device type, operating system and mobile carrier, (2) the language used by the device, (3) the time zone used by the device.

Payment

For live voice chat on the app, you must purchase minutes before the session starts or pay under the terms and conditions of another payment plan, such as a monthly subscription. You will purchase minutes through the in-app payment gateway. The third party will ask you to provide the information used for billing and payment. We do not have access to this payment information other than the amount of the purchase and the information that identifies you as the purchaser. All uses of billing and payment information are subject to the policies of those third parties.

Session recording

We use a live audio platform to give you the ability to chat with the teacher by live voice. Moddakir stores a recording of the voice chat on its servers. As of the date of this Privacy Policy, Moddakir’s terms of use state that, in connection with the operation of its audio platform, “Moddakir receives and stores certain non-personally identifiable information, as well as aggregated user information and statistics, such as the number of unique users, the number of sessions and the total minutes streamed. Moddakir may store this information itself, or this information may be stored by and shared with Moddakir’s affiliates, agents, service providers and current and prospective business partners.”

If you take part in a voice chat session on the app, the session may be recorded as described above and in the User Agreement. We may use these recordings for our internal business purposes, including, without limitation, for teacher evaluation, teacher training, dispute resolution and improving our services. The recording may be made available to you and/or to the other party to the recording for future viewing through the app, or to you individually for review. We may use the recordings as described in our User Agreement.

Teacher notes

To give you a seamless transition between several teachers, the developers take notes about your conversation, based on the information you provide during audio and video chat sessions. This information includes, without limitation: age, gender, language preferences and interests. We may retain any of this information and link it to your personally identifiable information. This information will be available only to Moddakir staff and the teachers you interact with. We may use this information to match you with a particular teacher available on the app, and to provide you with information and services that are likely to be of interest to you.

Correspondence

If you choose to leave a report, we will collect the information you send us. We keep this information as necessary to resolve disputes, provide customer support and troubleshoot problems, as permitted by law.

If you send us personal correspondence, such as emails or messages, or if other users or third parties send us correspondence about your activities or postings on the app, we may collect this information in a file specific to you.

Communications from us

Special offers and updates

We may from time to time send you information about products, services, special deals and promotions, using the email address you provided to us during registration. To the extent that we send you commercial emails relating to marketing or promotional materials from a third party, we will give you the ability to unsubscribe from receiving these emails in accordance with applicable law. We will not provide your personally identifiable information to third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.

Push notifications

You may receive notifications from Moddakir through push notification services. By allowing push notifications when you download the app, you consent to all notifications sent to you through the app, which may include information about products, services, special deals and promotions.

Service-related announcements

We will send you service-related announcements on the rare occasions when it is strictly necessary. For example, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance, we may send you an email.

In general, you may not opt out of these communications, which are not promotional in nature. If you do not wish to receive them, you have the option of deactivating your account.

Customer service

We will communicate with you in response to your inquiries, to provide the services you request and to manage your account. We will communicate with you by email, using the email address you provided to us when registering on the app.

Conditions under which your information is shared

Aggregate (non-personal) information

We may share aggregated demographic information about our user base with advertisers and with actual and prospective business partners. This information does not identify individual users.

Other users

If you take part in any communication with another user of a website or app, that user will receive your username, as well as any other personal information you may choose to share in connection with that communication.

Business partners

We may disclose non-personally identifiable information to other partners to further our business arrangements with them, including, without limitation, jointly offering a product or service to you, or creating interoperability between our products and services and those of these partners.

Service providers

We may use contractors and third-party service providers in connection with the app. Where our contractors or service providers have access to your personally identifiable information, they are required to protect it in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy, for example by not using it for any purpose other than carrying out the services they provide to Moddakir.

Other disclosures

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information or any other information as required by law, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the rights of a third party, to comply with judicial proceedings, a court order or legal process, or in connection with an actual or proposed merger or acquisition, other corporate transactions, or insolvency proceedings involving all or part of the business or assets to which the information relates.

Links to other websites

The app contains links to other websites that Moddakir does not own or control. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy policies of other websites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave the website and the app, and to read the privacy policy of every website that collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by our app.

Access to personally identifiable information

If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer want our services, you can correct, update, delete or deactivate it by making the change on our member information page, or by emailing customer support at: [email protected].

Security

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Users outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Moddakir app uses technology facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and your information may be stored and processed on cloud servers. Data will be used in the app, and you consent to the transfer of information outside your country, even if your country has stricter data protection standards.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, you will be notified of the changes to this Privacy Policy through the app’s user interface, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, and such a change will apply to the information you provide, or to your activity on the app, after the change to the policy; so please review it frequently. If we make changes that materially affect our uses or disclosure of personally identifiable information that we have previously collected, you will be notified through the app’s user interface or by email, to obtain your consent to applying the changes to the Privacy Policy retroactively.

Deleting your account with a third party

If you choose to delete your account with any third-party service integrated with our app, such as Facebook or Google, you will need to follow their deletion procedures. Below are general steps to guide you through deleting your account:

1. Open the Moddakir app: Tap the Moddakir app icon to open it.
2. Open the menu: Tap the three horizontal lines (the menu), usually found in the bottom right corner of the screen on iOS devices, or in the top right corner on Android devices.
3. Go to the profile page: Tap your profile picture or your name.
4. Delete the account: In the account details section, you will find a Delete Account button; tap it.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the deletion.
